In 2008 I graduated from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. From 2004 to 2008 I did the Nutrition & Dietetics course and obtained the dietitian title. After obtaining my diploma I started as a dietitian at SmartBeauty.
This was the reason for me to start for myself. After a very stressful period of uncertainty and doubts, I can now only say how fantastic it is to run my practice independently. I enjoy going to work every day and after all these years I can conclude that coaching people has become a real passion!
In addition to my work as a dietitian, in April 2012 I passed the all-round aerobic instructor course. Since then I have been teaching aerobics / body shape classes. After a day of sitting, I love to throw out my energy in the gym and empty my head. In addition to my own lesson, I have also started playing tennis since 2016 (great) and I can regularly be found in the gym for my 2 regular lessons; bodypump & yoga / pilates.
Over the years I have gained a lot of experience while coaching people. Young and old, sick or healthy, immigrant or native; no day is the same. Actually all ages appeal to me, but I really like adolescents / young people to coach.
For overweight adolescents, I devised a new way of guidance in 2016; In addition to office hours, I am also involved in giving various nutritional information (including for immigrants, diabetics and the elderly). I have also given several courses in the past, such as waste courses & children’s courses. I really enjoy the combination of office hours and information / courses and it gives me great satisfaction. It makes me feel good if I can help people on the road to change their lifestyle. The art is of course to be able to maintain this lifestyle. The reactions and the results are often beautiful moments that give me a lot of energy. I give people personal advice & coaching, I try to think along well with people and I can empathize with others. During the course Nutrition and Dietetics I found the psychology lessons very interesting.
So I try to empathize as well as possible and do everything in consultation. The nice thing is that 9 out of 10 people come back after such a pleasant first conversation. I have been guiding some people for 2-3 years and I really have a bond with that. And then I haven’t even talked about the great results of the low-carbohydrate diet in Diabetes and Overweight!
I also (finally) started diet myself at the end of July 2018, since I had been suffering from intestinal complaints and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for years.
